This one week
course on nuclear infrastructure and institutional capacity is organized with
an emphasis on legal and regulatory framework, roles, regulatory functions
and capacity and focussing on Nuclear Power Plants. Particular attention is
given to countries embarking on new nuclear power programmes.

Course Objective
After an introduction on the
historical development of NPP technology, fundamental safety principles and
basic safety & security concepts, the course will focus on the process to
develop the necessary infrastructure and capacity, in particular at the
institutional level, discussing the requirements associated with such a
process and including lessons learned from international experience.
